Princess Diana's Death Anniversary: 15 Years and Her Legacy Lives On

Even fifteen years after Princess Diana's death she remains a royal icon that had grace and style like no other. Friday marks the anniversary of Princess Diana's death that shocked the world in sadness and put paparazzi under a microscope.

In 1997, a 36-year-old Diana was in a car with her boyfriend, Dodi Al Fayed. As they were being chased by paparazzi and went through a Paris tunnel, Pont de l'Amla, the car crashed into a column. Diana, Fayed and the driver, Henri Paul all died in the crash.

Today, mourners from around the world respected the Princess. Tourist prayed in front of the Flame of Liberty monument to Diana above the site, where photos, notes and flowers were placed around.

On September 7 1997, Diana's funeral was held at Westminster Abbey. Her death was met with extraordinary amounts of public grief and mourning.

Today people left flowers outside of Kensington Palace where she lived for many years.

Diana's memory has lived on for 15 years and will continue to live on. Her son's Prince Harry, 27, and William, 30, live on in her legacy.

A movie about the Princess will debut next year, starring Naomi Watts as the iconic Princess. The film, "Caught in Flight" will explore the last two years of Diana's life including her humanitarian work.
