Joseph Mascolo as one of the star studded actors of the “Days of Our Lives” was reported dead just this Wednesday, December 7 at 87 years of age. He has been battling with his Alzheimer’s disease for years which caused his death. Mascolo, who is greatly known for his extended period playing the character of criminal mastermind “Stefano DiMera” on the prevalent NBC morning series, was recalled warmly by those closest to him. The West Hartford, Connecticut, native joined the show in 1982 and played the villainous role all the way up until the character’s death earlier this year.
According to Us weekly, his wife for 11 years, Patricia Schultz-Mascolo, stated: “Joseph was a big ‘ol bear with a puppy dog heart. I’m so blessed to have had these many years with him. I will miss him every day.” Also, on a statement released from Soap Opera Digest of Ken Corday, the series’ executive producer, he stated: “It is with great sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend and beloved member of the Days of Our Lives family, Joseph Mascolo.”
“The smile on Joe’s face is something we’d all come to find comfort in, and he will be sorely missed. His larger-than-life presence, kind heart and unwavering positivity has impacted us all for decades, and will live on in the memories of his many fans. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time,” Corday continued.
Additionally, according to Variety, aside from being an actor, Mascolo dabbled in numerous other arrangements of performing arts. He was formerly established to be a conventional musician, but when a fellow proposed he try his hand at cinema, something clicked, turns out he’s such a versatile personality. He was and will always be remembered not only by his beloved ones and friends, but also in the hearts of his fans and supporters for he has definitely a passionate and a kind-hearted person.
