Swimming with dolphins is a bucket list item for many travelers. Tourism companies around the world host swim with dolphin programs so tourists can get up close and personal with the friendly marine creatures. One woman got more than she bargained for when a dolphin jumped out of the water and humped her.
One dolphin in Cuba seemed to really enjoy meeting a woman who was eager to swim with it. The whole thing was caught on video and posted to YouTube for the world to see. The video shows the woman sitting on a dock, with her legs dangling in the water when suddenly the dolphin leaps up onto the girl and starts to thrust.
The girl's face shows how shocked she was, but she broke out into laughter at the hilarious situation.
The video, posted by Youtube user bsms808, has over three million views. In the description, the user wrote "My friend got more than she bargained for! Flipper flippin' loved it!" The video was taken in the summer of 2011, but it has received millions of hits within the past few weeks.
Viewers are also cracking jokes about the funny situation.
User Svoni123 wrote "And thats how mermaids are made kids!"
User chirayu kering wrote "Thats how michael phelps was born."
While the behavior may have surprised the tourist in the video, it isn't so unbelievable. Dolphins are one of the only creatures, aside from humans that have sex for pleasure. Researchers found that dolphins have similar sexual habits to humans after studying 120 bluenose dolphins in Shark Bay, Western Australia for six years, according to the Daily Mail.
Some of these behaviors included recreational sex with members of the pod. The researchers even noticed examples of dolphins acting and wingmen for each other and others got very aggressive with their sexual behavior. They also found that dolphins pair up, break up, and even switch teams in some cases.
This video isn't the first evidence of a dolphin getting a little too excited. According to the Daily Mail, a couple in Weymouth, England was warned about a horny dolphn named Georges in 2002, as he liked to isolate and get rough with female swimmers.
'When dolphins get sexually excited, they try to isolate a swimmer, normally female. They do this by circling around the individual and gradually move them away from the beach, boat or crowd of people,' Ric O'Barry who worked on the famous television show 'Flipper' told the Daily Mail.
Malcolm Brenner, author of "Wet Goddess" claims that he had a nine-month relationship with a dolphin named Dolly in 1970.
