Today marked the first day of the GOP's Republican National Convention in Tampa. With Tropical Storm Isaac in its wake, plans for the convention were put on hold.
At 2 p.m. E.T. Reince Priebus, party chairman, announced that the convention was in session and only moments later, declared the convention in recess.
Convention organizers canceled plans for the opening day's festivities and then postponed the real events until Tuesday when Tropical Storm Isaac has fully passed.
Events on Tuesday will include remarks by Ann Romney, Mitt Romney's wife, a speech by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Romney closing it all out on Thursday night.
With the number of flight delays and cancellations due to Tropical Storm Isaac many speakers have been rescheduled or canceled from the entire convention.
At the convention sidelines, Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain and Michelle Bachmann are also expected to hold events at the convention sidelines.
Many delegates are literally ready to weather the storm and waiting in the area for the storm to pass and the convention to get underway.
On Monday morning, The California delegation hosted a breakfast at their hotel-the Tradewinds Resort in St. Petersburg Florida. Iowa's delegation said on Sunday to ABC News that, we're monitoring the situation, but we're still at our hotel and planning to hold a breakfast Monday."
15,000 journalists have traveled to cover the Florida convention with not much to do as of Monday. Reuters said, "Romney could be robbed of some media attention - or worse, have images of convention festivities juxtaposed with searing split-screen television images of the storm's onslaught if Isaac dominates the news this week."
