A group of historians in Atlantic City are racking up ideas to boost their tourism, their latest concept? A Donald Trump Museum.
Trump has a long history in Atlantic City, particularly during the 1980's to 1990's. He built two Boardwalk Casinos and one in the Marina, but by the end of 2009, it's clear that his businesses aren't growing. He declared bankruptcy on his properties six times, which left a bad taste on the local businesses situated there.
Ironically, Atlantic City was the also where Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton conducted her campaign rally. She often mentioned the multiple business failings of the now elected President, making it one of the touchiest subjects in the recent presidential election.
Bob Blaskiewicz, one of the would-be museum's instigators and assistant professor of critical thinking and first-year studies at Stockton University told the Press of Atlantic City, "Let's face it, the subject of Donald Trump in Atlantic City is going to be of historical interest, especially now that he has been elected president." He said. "People are going to be interested in what his long-term impact has been in the city."
Another supporter of the Trump Museum, Temple University doctoral student Levi Fox, is not fazed about the bad comments revolving the idea of building a Donald Trump-inspired museum, according to phillyvoice.com. He knows that his proposal is just in its preliminary stage, and the project still has a long way to go.
Now, the organizers of the museum are asking the city officials and past employees of Trump to help them gather relevant artifacts to help build the proposed museum. Fox also plans to approach the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority for possible backing of the expenses needed.
Before the election, Fox is leading Donald Trump walking tours for tourists, which led him to propose the idea of a museum. With his fingers crossed, he hopes that the proposal will materialize one day, bringing back the tourists' attention with it
