Tropical Storm Isaac Affects the World's Largest Cruise Ship

Tropical Storm Isaac is affecting the world's largest cruise ship. Royal Caribbean's 5,400 passenger Allure of the Seas which is one of the largest cruise ships in the world, along with Oasis of the Seas, will return to Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday two days after its schedule.

Tropical Storm Isaac is expected to approach Florida by Sunday and Royal Caribbean said according to USA Today, "to ensure guests enjoy safe and comfortable cruises, and to make certain our ships steer clear of the storm."

The Allure's next sail has had to shorten its trip from seven nights to five nights and the boat will depart from Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday instead of Sunday. As a result of the storm, the trip will have to skip calls in Jalmouth, Jamaica and Labadee, Haiti and will add a stop in Nassau Bahamas.

Cynthia Martinez a Royal Caribbean spokesperson told USA Today that the line was giving passengers on the boat on-board credit for the missing days and that they would receive a certificate that is 10 percent of what they paid for the cruise.

Other cruise ships including Carnival on Friday have multiple ships that are departing from Florida will have altered itineraries in the next few weeks. Norwegian Cruise Lines also had numerous cruise ships such as the Norwegian Sky, Norwegian Gem will also be affected.

The tropical storm has passed through Haiti and Cuba and is now making its way over to Florida.
