Tropical Storm Isaac is disrupting flights as it moves closer to Florida.
More than 500 flights have been canceled at Miami International according to The Miami Herald. Most of the cancellations have occurred on American and American Eagle regional units according to NBC Miami.
In Fort Lauderdale 135 flights were canceled and in West Palm Beach dozens of flights were canceled. Southwest, AirTran, American and Avianca have had the most cancellations. Combined, 730 flights have been canceled in Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
Major airline carrier, Southwest, said it had to cancel all of its afternoon and evening flights in West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers. Southwest said in a statement on their website, "Our ability to resume our scheduled service is contingent upon the conditions of the runways, taxiways, other airport services, and city's infrastructure to/from the airport."
Schedule disruptions were also reported at Southwest Florida Regional Airport near Fort Myers.
Tropical Storm Isaac came over Cuba and is sweeping towards the Florida Keys where it is expected to strike Sunday.
In Haiti, the storm left six people dead and three people are missing in the Dominican Republic. In Cuba, no reported deaths or injuries have occurred and the storm crossed the eastern part of the country suffering minor damages.
In the Gulf of Mexico Energy producers have been shutting down and the U.S. Republican Party said it would postpone its national convention in Tampa for a day for safety reasons.
