More information has emerged about the upcoming "Tomb Raider" film with Alicia Vikander. Details of the plot for the film reboot of "Tomb Raider" has now been revealed. In the movie, Lara Croft is trying to find an important person. The Tomb Raider reboot will feature Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft and will be released in 2018. The movie will revolve around Lara's search for someone important to her.
The reboot will have a more emotional story. The search for a lost kingdom or lost treasure is nothing compared to the search for a father. This is what the main character Lara Croft will face in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. The movie will show Lara Croft in her quest to find her father.
United Press International and gaming websites GameSpot and IGN reported that according to the film's producer the movie reboot of "Tomb Raider", which stars Oscar winner Alcia Vikander, will explore Lara Croft's attempts to locate her father. Producer Graham King, speaking in an interview with Hey U Guys, explained the movie's focus on Lara's search for her dad when discussing the narrative of the movie.
He said that the plot of the movie is kind of what they call a back to the roots story. A young Lara Croft is in a quest to see if her father is dead or alive. The story has a very emotional part to it. King mentioned that he thinks that is what the star of the movie, Alicia Vikander, found so interesting about it.
Vikander was announced earlier to be starring as Lara Croft by Warner Bros. and MGM. She later discussed how her portrayal in "Tomb Raider" would be different from the movies that came before. King's statements echo what the Oscar winner said about the movie. She told HitFix that they told her that they were doing a film based on the reboot of the game from 2013.
She said that is more an origin story and there is more of an emotional aspect of getting to know Lara hopefully in an in-depth way. Alicia Vikander hopes that doing a film of the rebooted "Tomb Raider" game will bring something new and fresh that will stand on its own two legs.
