The iPhone 5 release date is approaching soon and wireless carrier Verizon is preparing for the madness that will ensue when the long-awaited Apple phone hits stores. Verizon is having a vacation blackout, preventing employees from taking a break starting September 21, which is a big sign that the iPhone 5 will drop then as rumors have predicted.
A trusted Verizon employee told TechCrunch that Verizon employees have bene told that they can't take a vacation from September 21 to September 30. This fits with the rumors that the iPhone 5 will be available starting Sept. 21. iPhone releases lead to lines around the block and overnight as fans hope to be the first to get their hands on the new Apple technology.
The iPhone 5 is expected to be revealed during a special announcement form Apple on Sept. 12. It is expected that consumers will be able to pre-order the new iPhone on that date as well. There are also rumors that Apple could reveal an iPad mini on the same day.
Last year, the iPhone 4S was announced on Oct. 4 and the device hit stores 10 days later on Oct. 14. According to the new iPhone 5 release date rumors, the phone would come out nine days after it is revealed.
Leaked photos of the iPhone have already hit the internet. The new iPhone is expected to have a slightly taller 4-inch screen and a smaller 9-pin dock connector instead of the common 30-pin design. Photos have also shown that the headphone jack will be on the bottom of the phone instead of the top.
Earlier this month, there were some rumors swirling around Twitter that the new iPhone could cost $800, but these rumors were not confirmed.
