Virtual Reality Lets You See First Your Travel Destination Before Booking A Flight

Virtual Reality seems to be getting more and more popular. From gaming to traveling, it sure promises to be the next big thing in experiencing a simulated environment.

You never thought you could arrive to your dream destination by just sitting on a couch and watching a video, but VR makes it possible to feel the experience like it's really happening in front of you.

Qantas Airlines of Australia, partnered with Samsung, offered the first ever in-flight VR experience that uses Samsung's Gear VR. It provides the best entertainment amenity for passengers.

Because of this success in Virtual Reality, Qantas also made use the technology to promote traveling. You can now see first your travel destination before booking a flight!

The airline's new mobile VR app for iPhone, Android, Samsung Gear, Oculus, and HTC Vive gives 13 videos of different tourist destinations. Passengers are provided scenic views of Australia. They get to experience to land on Hamilton Island, discover marine life in the Great Barrier Reef, and climb the Sydney Harbor Bridge.

Recently, the airline added an immersive VR experience of Uluru where viewers will see beautiful natural rock formations. The app allows users to connect to Qantas' booking system to book a flight of the locations, according to itnews.

Other international airlines are following suit to offer virtual reality content to promote booking for travel trips. According to Nick Vivion of Sabre, travel agencies and airlines are using the VR technology to make people book for a trip where they had the best VR experience.

"For hotels, the technology also offers a compelling first-person perspective that can push travelers towards an up-sell. An immersive first-hand view of a better room sells better than a small thumbnail," Vivion said.

Experiencing the trip first hand in VR makes you want to choose what seat you are more comfortable in, what meal looks more appealing to you, and what tours get the most of your interest. This kind of advertising could turn consumers to an up-sell, thus providing more money to the market.
