"Dishonored 2" was launched on the PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. A significant number of players on the PC have been complaining about performance issues. In comparison, the Xbox One and Playstation 4 have had very little to no reports of issues at all. Bethesda and Arkane Studios have been working on a patch to resolve the issues on the PC and will release it very soon.
According to computer website PC World, there have been consistent reports that players have been experiencing performance problems with Dishonored 2 while playing the game on PCs, especially on mid-range machines and those with AMD graphics cards. Bethesda and Arkane have recommended workarounds, most of which consists of lowering settings to lessen the workload on the hardware. Still, there hasn't yet been a solution presented that has been able to solve much of the reported issues of the PC version of the game.
"Dishonored 2" has received a lot of interest and attention since it was announced so its curious why more effort wasn't exerted on ensuring that there were no serious issues before the game was released. Its even more surprising when you count the fact that it is the season for shopping and Dishonored 2 could use some good reviews to sell more copies going forward. Instead, PC gamers get a poorly optimized port of the game.
Players have complained in forums on reddit, NeoGAF, and Steam, as well as the user reviews on Steam and Metacritic. Users have been giving Dishonored 2 low review scores on Steam and Metacritic. These low scores may impact the future sales performance of the game and this may be what prompted Bethesda to finally acknowledge the issue and announce the upcoming release of a patch to fix it.
According to gaming websites GameSpot and PC Gamer, Bethesda has reported that they have been monitoring forums and social channels and that they are aware of the complaints of players experiencing performance issues on some PCs. They are actively working to provide an update to address those issues. The patch and its release notes will be available very soon. What do you think about this? Leave your comment below.
