Olympics Closing Ceremony 2012: Spice Girls, The Who, Muse Set to Peform

Britain's most favorite girl group is expected to make a comeback at this years Olympic closing ceremony. The Spice Girls will be one of many diverse stars that will perform in Sunday's ceremony, dubbed "A Symphony of British Music."

Both George Michael and Ed Sheeran have confirmed that they will be among the spunky girl clan who will perform. The show on Sunday will feature more than 4,000 performers including 380 school children.

The Who is also confirmed among the celebration tonight that has been artistically directed by Kim Gavin. In the past Gavin has directed rock tours and the 2007 Princess Diana memorial concert. He said to According to the Associated Press he said Saturday that he wants the night to be "''the best after-show party that's ever been.''

Olympic organizers have tried to keep the ceremony underwraps but expectantly some details have been leaked from media and performers alike.

The show will feature performances of 30 British hit singles from the past 50 years. Adding to the list, Annie Lennox, Fatboy Slim and The Pet Shop Boys will perform along with the confirmed Spice Girls, The Who, Ed Sheeran, George Michael and Muse.

The ceremony which will start with a 20 minute montage "day in the life of London" will be featured with a soundtrack featuring Britain's greatest hits. They include everything form The Kinks' "Waterloo Sunset" to Edward Elgar, a British composter.

''It was more important the song made the set list, or the creative idea,'' Gavin said. ''If the artist wasn't available, we asked someone else" he said to Associated French Presse.

"It is an extraordinary show. I think it is everything we wanted," said Stephen Daldry, the ceremony's creative director and executive producer to AFP."The brief was to celebrate the athletes, to celebrate the volunteers, to celebrate London, the country and... the rest of the world that has come together for this extraordinary Games."
