Several celebrities are furious and they call for a boycott to the magazine. The photo shows the president-elect Donald Trump smiling, wearing a shiny blue suit and red and white striped tie. "He's hired!" captioned on People Magazine'sTwitter account according to The Hollywood Reporter. Here's the link of the magazine cover.
People Magazine already made headlines in October after it published an account from their former reporter, Natasha Styonoff who accused the former Republican candidate of groping her during a 2005 interview. Her story came out publicly together with the Trump and Billy Bush incident and a lot of other women exposing the now president of sexually assaulting them said The Hollywood Reporter.
Celebrities called out the magazine's cover story when it came out on Wednesday. The online version of the Styonoff story is the most credible accusation among the 12 women who came out in the open to expose Trump. When People was asked about the backlash, a spokesperson sent a statement, "Donald Trump's win is a history making news event that warranted the cover of the magazine. The story is not a celebration or an endorsement and we continue to stand by Natasha Styonoff, whose account of being attacked by Trump in 2005 is recounted in this week's cover story."
Notable personalities expressed their disdain by posting on their Twitter accounts. Actor and director Judd Apatow tweeted, "F- @people magazine. How disgusting. Selling their soul. Soon the happy Donald cover. Sell those mags! F- your employees." Another tweet from him says: "F--- @people magazine. How disgusting. Selling their soul. Soon the happy Donald cover. Sell those mags! F--- your employees.". Actress Zoe Kazan used the hashtag #BOYCOTTPEOPLEMAGAZINE. She tweeted, ""Your own writer was assaulted by this man. Now you look the other way for profit?" she tweeted. "Normalizing him is shameful. I won't stand for it."
Comedian Jon Cryer responded to the issue by tweeting, "Time to #boycottNewBalance https://twitter.com/solecollector/status/796507237955096576 ..." and "And while we're at it #BoycottPeopleMagazine." Model Chrissy Teigen reacted on the cover and the Ivanka Trump photos and said, " "If I didn't love you guys so much, I wouldn't feel so sick. So much for that writer, eh?."
