The long running comedy animated series has been known for its parodies of hot topics and pop culture. South Park's latest episode was instantly re-written to reflect the unprecedented victory of Republican candidate and business tycoon Donald Trump over Democratic candidate and former Secretary Of State, Hillary Clinton as the next US President. That event is now called the "biggest election upset in the US history," reported by Variety.
Just as the majority of the media assumed of Clinton's ascent to the White House, the creators were supposed to feature that on the episode's storyline. The episode was already scheduled before the shocking event unfolded, for Wednesday, November 9. It was titled, "The Very First Gentleman" that tackled the election results according to Variety. The complete logline of that episode can be viewed on Comedy Central's website that can be accessed on the link below.l
The new episode's script has been revised and it is now called, "Oh Jeez." On the episode preview, the characters are talking about the new president but Trump's name is not mentioned and has been quoted on his famous campaign slogan. "Well, I don't know about you guys, but I sure am excited. America's going to be great again," says the character, Randy Marsh and then he asks his wife Sharon and daughter Shelly. "Aren't you excited, gang?" His daughter answers, "No, I'm not excited. It sucks, Dad! This country is going to suck for four years." Towards the end of the clip Randy concluded in a sad note that says, "Oh come on Shelly. We've learned that women can be anything- except for president."
#TheMorningAfter is the hashtag being promoted of the preview video on South Park's Twitter account. Comedy Central's spokesperson told Variety that while the turnaround of Donald Trump's win came very fast, the show's writers "always work on every episode up until the day it airs." Below is the preview video of the controversial episode.
