“Xiaomi” has introduced a new low cost virtual reality headset called “MI VR”, which also comes with some apps you can play. The MI VR has a price of only $29, which is less than half of the cost of Gear VR. However, the design is similar to Sony that looks futuristic with smooth edges. The headset has only one variant with a combination of black and white colors.
The future is here. With Playstation VR, Samsung Gear VR and Google Dreamscape View competing in the virtual reality market, it is no wonder Xiaomi wants to have a piece of the pie. Pressured to innovate and compete, Xiaomi has unveiled its own entry level low cost headset that will force its competitors to improvise their current device.
This new headset is intended for the latest generation of Xiaomi Smartphones, which the company manages to offer quality products at an affordable price. The headset will work on the Mi 5, Mi 5 Plus and the recently released Mi Note.
According to theverge, “The stunning headset is similar to the “Playstation VR” and Google Daydream View, which comes with a new built-in motion sensor that will keep latency low at 16ms, which minimizes motion sickness, and also features a 9-axis motion controller and support touch controls.” That means that videos are smoother when watched and games are much easier to play.
Mashable stated that “Xiaomi is keeping its customers hooked up by providing enough content to the device. The company has unveiled a MIUI VR Store, which has over 500 panoramic videos, and more than 30 VR apps with 200 registered developers to sign the platform to make apps.“
The downside is that the “MI VR” headset is not available globally, which means that some people won’t be able to purchase the device yet.
