SHANGHAI, CHINA - After three years of construction and a total cost of $515m, the Wanda Reign on the Bund has opened its doors to guests. Located in Shanghai's upscale Huangpu District, the luxury hotel has been named as the city's first seven-star hotel.
The twenty-storey-high project was carefully designed by the revolutionary British Fosters + Partners and Heatherwick Studio. Its facade is decorated with an elaborate mix of glass and steel, giving it a refined, modern finish.
The hotel's interior is decorated with sparkling jade floors, large marble columns, and intricate 3-D mosaics. According to a report by CNN, the hotel lobby even features a wall-sized abstract painting of Shanghai, done by the world-renowned Chinese artist, Shi Qui.
CNN has also noted that the half-billion-dollar hotel is furnished in a way that reflects the style of Shanghai during the 20's and 30's. The property is embellished in magnolia patterns, rhinestones, and embroideries made with crystal, jade and marble.
The hotel features a large number of world-class facilities, including four private karaoke rooms. Known as Universe KTV, the hotel's karaoke rooms come fully equipped with dance floors, lasers, disco lights, and top-of-the-line audio equipment.
Wanda Reign also features a nightclub zone known as Club Reign, and a 7,750 square foot ballroom with a 360 degree view of the Pudong skyline and Huangpu River.
For dining options, the guests of Wanda Reign may choose from four separate dining rooms. Of the four, the most luxurious features Marc Restaurant. The Marc is a refined French restaurant, headed by Michelin-star chef, Marc Meneau.
The Express UK has reported that the seven-star hotel's 193 rooms are made available to guests at $430 a night, starting price. The hotel's Chairman Suite, found on the top floor, features a 3, 100 square foot dining area, study, living area, and comes equipped with its own personal sauna.
