Cameron Clark, of Bend, Oregon's Facebook post bashing Alaska Airlines has gone viral causing the airline to comment back. The concert promoter wrote on his Facebook wall Friday hat Alaska Airlines is "the worst of humanity."
This comes after Bend saw a disabled man miss his flight at the airport because airline personnel would not offer him additional assistance. Clark said even after he intervened and asked airline employees for help, the man still missed his flight. Clark said that the man told im he had late-stage Parkinson's disease.
The airline however has said that their employees did their best to accommodate the passenger. Airline officials posted on Facebook that the passengers ticket was refunded and he got on a new flight on Saturday.
Spokesperson for the airline, Paul McElroy, said to The Associated Press that the man never said he was disabled and airline employees, thought he was intoxicated because they smelled alcohol on him. "He did appear disoriented to us, and later, when we smelled alcohol, we were led to the conclusion he was intoxicated. We don't know whether this customer has Parkinson's or not," he said.
Clark said on his Facebook wall that the man was probably in his 70s and that he told him that he missed a small amount of time that he had to meet his daughter in Bellingham, Washington.
He said on his Facebook post, "What happened to our collective sense of decency, of compassion, of our disposition to help those in need of extra help. Alaska Airlines you broke a man's heart today. you maintained your policy, and ignored an opportunity to do the right thing. you broke my heart too."
