After a passenger became violent by attacking several people and threatening them, a Germany-bound Condor Airlines flight had been diverted to Jacksonville, Florida last November 2. The police are forced to arrest a British man named Oliver Halliday Gee due to assaults and unruly behaviors such as assaulting cabin crew, threatening people and exposing himself on an international flight.
The 34-year-old British national, who resides in Mexico, had been detained after the emergency landing at Jacksonville International Airport. The flight was heading to Frankfurt when it diverted its flight and landed to Jacksonville International Airport in Florida, based on report by Stuff.
He faces 20 years in federal prison for assault or intimidation of a flight crew. As stated in the criminal complaint, Gee was demanding for alcohol before taking off in Cancun. An hour later, Gee threatened another passenger and scared a child. This is the newest case of violence at 30,000 feet, as per the Stuff news.
Based on reports by WTSP, the charging affidavit from the FBI stated that, seemingly, Gee was about to urinate in the plane's cabin. Accordingly, a trained martial arts passenger walked in to help Gee to the bathroom but was hit several times; same with the cabin crew that was also slapped twice, as per the complaint affidavit.
As further mentioned in the charging affidavit, the flight crew was worried on keeping Gee in Condor 2115, because they will not be able to stop to take the man off the plane while over the Atlantic Ocean. Since the flight was from Cancun, Mexico to Frankfurt, Germany, flight would most probably take place over water. Gee was currently into custody by Jacksonville Aviation Authority Police. He made his appearance in federal court on November 03. Meanwhile, his formal detention hearing is on November 7.
