Demonoid, one of the most popular BitTorrent trackers on the web, has been down for more than a week now, which is leaving it's over three million users upset and angry as they don't have a quality Torrent site to go to. However, there are other alternatives out there.
Demonoid.me has been taken down after it was hit by a DDoS cyber attack. The massive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack has caused a series of extensive problems for the website which can take weeks or months to fix.
"It started as a DDoS but then it caused a series of problems. These problems need to be fixed before the site can go back up, and it's a complicated fix this time," the Demonoid admin told TorrentFreak. The problems will be difficult to fix and there is only one person available to work on them as Demonoid had steep staff cuts earlier in the year.
When the attack first occurred, users were shown a "Server Busy" message. The site was then taken down completely as the admin attempts to fix it. On August 2, people who went to the site were redirected to advertisements which turned out to be virus causing malware. This redirection now seems to have stopped.
This isn't the first time the site has been down. Demonoid has had downtime due to hardware failures, power outages and even some legal issues.
As the site may not be working for an extended time, users are now looking for other places to go to get their torrent fix. Fans on Twitter and Facebook are missing the site as it provided them access to television shows, movies, books, comics, and much more. For some users, it took them months just to be able to get an account on the popular site.
Now people are trying to find alternative torrent sites, but there have been complaints that none work as well as Demonoid did.
Although they may not work as well as Demonoid, here are some other Torrent sites that people may consider using. Not all of these sites may bring satisfaction and some may even be blocked in certain countries, but there are plenty of options out there until Demonoid is able to start running again.
