Stephen Curry News: Is Golden State Warriors Sharpshooter The Next Ray Allen In NBA?

After his comeback for the last couple of seasons, Ray Allen has officially announced his retirement from the NBA on Tuesday. Allen became known as the deadliest 3-point shooter of all-time. His record is also at risk, though. If Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Stephen Curry keeps up anything close to his current pace, he will possibly surpass Allen in the upcoming years.

However, as for Curry himself, he sees Allen in high regard and described him as the "best shooter" of all-time. "To me, he's the greatest shooter ever because of his longevity," Curry told ESPN. "He did it year-to-year and he got up on his shot. That's what made him different. He was a special player."

Allen, 41, created an NBA-record 2,973 triples during his 18-year career with one of the most amazing shooting strokes. He also bagged two NBA titles and was a 10-time All-Star. Moreover, when Curry's father, Dell Curry, played for the Milwaukee Bucks during the 1998-99 campaign, Allen would challenge the 10-year-old Curry to shooting contests. "Those were fun times," Stephen Curry said.

Curry will likely earn the "greatest shooter ever" title very soon. He has made several three-point record and he is also making threes at a considerably faster rate than Allen did in his career. In his eighth season, Curry had 1,610 threes in 497 games, while at the same point in Allen's career, he had made 1,051 three-pointers at 693 games, CBS Sports said. It's also on Curry's radar. "He gives me something to shoot for," Curry said. "That's a goal of mine."

Also, Curry set the single season record for 3-pointers made with 286 in 2014-15, then returned and smashed it last season by making an impressive 402. Still, it is difficult to argue with Curry here. For the time being, Allen is the greatest shooter of all-time, although Curry is hot on his heels.
