"Fifty Shades of Grey" Outsells "Harry Potter," Makes E.L. James the Best Selling Writer of All Time

J.K Rowlings record breaking book series, "Harry Potter's" popularity has faded with of the erotic novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey" stepping into the limelight.

The sexy novel has outsold all seven "Harry Potter" books on Amazon.co.uk making E.L. James the best-selling writer ever.

"Fifty Shades of Grey," tells the tale of a sadomasochistic affair between a wealthy older man--Christian Grey and a young literature student, Anastasia Steele.

E.L. James has also become Amazon.co.uk's biggest selling author of all time. The steamy book has eclipsed the sale of the website's former best selling book of all time-"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" by more than two books to one.

Following the book's release, a"mommy porn" revolution has taken over, selling more than 4 million copies in print and on Kindle from Amazon's UK website since March 2012. It has quickly become the fastest selling book to hit a sales of one million, taking only 11 weeks.

Gordon Willoughby, EU Director of Kindle, said in a statement, "If J.K. Rowling was the literary phenomenon of the last decade then E.L. James looks certain to take that mantle in the current decade."

It was announced in March that the book trilogy, "Fifty Shades of Grey," "Fifty Shades Darker," and Fifty Shades Freed," will be made into a film. Movie rights were purchased by Universal and Focus Features.

Since the movie announcement there has been much speculation over who will play the characters. Some rumors include Scarlet Johansson, Emma Roberts or Kristen Stewart playing Anastasia Steele.
