The DC Universe's superhero 'Wonder Woman's' new trailer has just been released this week and its epicness has made fans waiting for June 2, 2017 more unbearable.
"I used to want to save the world, this beautiful place. But the closer you get, the more you see the great darkness within. I learned this the hard way, a long, long time ago."
The opening statement by Diana of Themyscira (Gal Gadot) as she passes by the Louvre is a small hint of what's to be expected in the movie. The trailer showed Diana, Wonder Woman's alter ego in a modern day setting as she inspects an old photo of her in the World War I alongside Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and other soldiers.
The connection shared between Steve and Diana was explained by turning back time about 100 years ago. One hundred years ago, Diana was this "naive, young idealist," far different from her present self. It showed how Diana met and saved Trevor when his plane crashed into the waters of Themyscira, the hidden island of the Amazons, where the two became closer because of their shared cause of stopping the war and saving the world.
Following scenes showed how Director Patty Jenkins and the crew depicted warfare in a high tech way as possible. An article by Forbes even described the video as, "...gloriously rich and vivid are the colors, and the interplay between shadow and light. Even underwater and nighttime scenes play with deep contrast and highlights."
Casting of Gal Gadot to play the superhero was the right decision to make for she has acted the scenes outstandingly, showcasing superhero moves as she deflects bullets with her bracelets and bind enemies with her Lasso of Truth.
A snippet of Danny Huston and Elena Anaya as the villains, who will wreak havoc to the world and make Diana and Trevor's goal of stopping the war difficult, are also shown. Anaya is chosen to play the role of Miss Poison while Huston's role is still undisclosed. However, according to Vulture, he may be an "earthly disguise of Ares, god of war."
With Wonder Woman named as UN honorary ambassador, according to an article by Daily Mail, this could result to an increased popularity of the movie.
