The Ulm Minster, known to be the world's tallest church tower is having a dilemma from an unexpected source. The tower is located in Münterplatz 21, 89073, Ulm, Germany and is 531ft tall. The strong bases of the church's tower is being threatened by urine. As reported by CNN, The salt and acid elements found in urine has been the main reason for this dilemma. According to the maintenance head of the tower, Michael Hilbert, to Südwest Presse, the tower has been coated with urine and vomit for half a year already.
Action has already been taken early this year as the fine of anyone caught peeing in the tower being increased to 109 euros. Solutions regarding this matter are hard to find according to a city's spokeswoman's report to Südwest Presse. Furthermore, she expressed that the city's call to action has been well but despite the efforts of increasing guards and the knowledge of event organizers about the problem, the infliction of additional fines still haven't solved the problem.
According to Mr. Hilbert, he wants this problem to be solved and said "This is about preserving law and order". He also suggests that since lots of events happen near the church, event organizers should provide public toilets for the people to stop destroying the wonderful building of the church tower.
As citizens, everyone must be aware where to properly settle their needs especially when peeing. If it leads to the destruction of a wonderful structure or harm towards nature, think twice before you do it even if nobody sees.
