Taylor Swift Named Highest Paid Woman In Music Of 2016; Is Singer's Net Worth Higher Than Adele, Madonna, Rihanna And Beyonce?

Forbes magazine recently released the names of the highest-paid women in music over the past year. On top of their list is Taylor Swift, who made $170 million last year alone, beating out 2015's top earner Katy Perry. Last year, Perry pulled in $135 million from her Prismatic Tour and promoting brands like Coty, Claire's, and Covergirl.

According to the magazine, most of Swift's wealth came from her 1989 Tour which grossed over a quarter of a billion dollars. More than $200 million dollars of which came from her sold-out North American tour that defeated The Rolling Stones' record. She garnered her total by moving more than 3 million album equivalents during the magazine's scoring period at the same time having endorsement deals with Keds, Diet Coke and Apple, as reported by EOnline.

"She has been building her fan base for years, and that fan base crosses multiple market segments," says entertainment attorney Lori Landev in the interview. "It's this ability to appeal to younger and older audiences, and those in between, that makes Taylor such a sure bet with concert promoters and brands who want to affiliate with her and with the community she has cultivated."

On the second spot is Adele, who made $80.5 million mostly from album sales. Her latest release 25, is the best-selling album of 2015. Madonna is on third place with $76.5 million. Much of it, came from her Rebel Heart Tour which grossed $170 million.

Acoording to Forbes, following on fourth place is Rihanna, who earned $75 million from radio hits and tours. She also has endorsement deals with Dior, Puma, Samsung and Stance. The fifth spot goes to Beyonce with $54 million. Lemonade is her sixth No. 1 album but still makes most of her money from concert tours.

Katy Perry is on sixth place, made $41 million. Jennifer Lopez ranks seventh with $ 39.5 million. Making it on eight place is Britney Spears, earning $30.5 million. Shania Twain ranks ninth on the list with $27.5 million. Rounding out the top ten list is Celine Dion, who pulled in $27 million.
