San Antonio International Airport in San Antonio, Texas has been evacuated Wednesday after officials said the airport received a bomb threat.
The airport's spokesman Rich Johnson said to press that someone called the airport and made a "very specific" threat but did not elaborate.
Passengers inside the terminal were ushered onto the tarmac and arriving planes were told to stay parked away from gates.
The evacuation was called at 2:35 p.m. CST and Johnson said that about 1000 people were evacuated from the terminal, including employees and passengers.
The airport also tweeted the following:
Deborah Foster a spokeswoman for the Fire department said that the caller said that three bombs were planted in a parking garage. She said that a specialist unit was on its way to examine the area.
Johnson has said that no flights were diverted but six or seven that had landed or were preparing to take off were ordered away from the terminal and are sitting on runways a few hundred feet from the airport building.
The San Antonio police have said that federal agencies are investigating the bomb threat.
