Originally released in August 1999, "Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie" is set to return to selected nine Japanese theaters on January 21, 2017. Advance tickets will be available soon.

As another way to celebrate the original manga's 20th anniversary, CLAMP launched the ongoing "Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Hen" (Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc) sequel manga series in Nakayoshi's July issue on June 3. The manga's setting takes place after titular character Sakura graduates from Tomoeda Elementary School, and is now in her first year of junior high school. Sakura will see a mysterious dream, and an incident will happen.

For the plot summary of the upcoming anime project, Anime News Network said that "Sakura wins a trip to Hong Kong. Even though she is extremely lucky, Kero questions whether Sakura was merely called to Hong Kong for a specific reason. As Sakura visits the local sites in Hong Kong, strange occurances happen to her. When two strange birds lead Sakura to a phantom world, she learns that she really was called to come to Hong Kong by a woman who wants revenge on Clow Reed."

Crunchyroll adds that the 82-minute film was directed by Morio Asaka, the director of the TV anime series and the second feature film "Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card" which aired in July 2000, and took home the Theatrical Film Award in the fourth Animation Kobe Awards.
