Top Five Traditional Southeast Asian Clothings You'd Want To See

Many years ago, before the late fashion trends ever existed, most countries have their own traditional clothing. These clothes are usually not easy to make and are unique. Some of these clothes have symbols relating to the traditions of the countries. Most countries in Asia also have their own traditional clothing that is still being used in some parts of the country. Here are some of the Asian country's traditional clothes worn by the women as listed by Vietnam Net and a presentation from Slideshare.

1. Balintawak- The Balintawak is a traditional clothing of Filipino women while the Barong Tagalog is for the men. This is their formal clothing for weddings, ceremonies and other formal events. The Balintawak has a top with short and puffy sleeves and a long skirt.

2. áo dài- The áo dài is the national traditional clothing of Vietnam. It is both worn by men and women. It is a long dress with long slits on both sides and it would be worn over trousers. Women in Vietnam still wears the áo dài but men usually wear it for special ceremonies and events.

3. Kebaya- The Kebaya is a traditional clothing worn by women in Indonesia. It is like a bright dress and a blouse with buttons. Usually, it is worn with a sarong/batik sarong. The men in Indonesia wear batik, teluk beskap and a sarong. Men usually wear sarong when they pray at home.

4. Baju Kurun- The Baju Kurun is a traditional clothing for Malaysian women. It covers the women's body with its long sleeves and long skirt. The Malaysian men's clothing is called Baju Melayu

5. Longyi- Longyi is a traditional clothing of Myanmar. It is worn by both men and women. Women wear a Yinzi which is a dress with buttons in front and those with side buttons named Yinbon. The Longyi is like a cylindrically shaped skirt.

These are some of the traditional clothing of Southeast Asian countries. Singapore does not have a certain traditional clothing since Singaporeans came from different countries. Brunei's traditional clothing is somewhat similar to the Malaysian clothing but is more colorful. Laos clothing is a sarong and a long sleeves skirt made out of silk. They also wear scarves. When you visit these countries, you may still see some citizens wearing these kinds of clothing and you may even try them yourself.
