Instagram is an app that has unconsciously taken over everyone's lives. It seems that these days, many people take loads of pictures of their food only to upload it there, not even bothering to actually eat it first.
While some use Instagram as a place to share artfully photographed food, it also seems to have become a haven for travel photos as well.
Honestly, the app has now become a necessity for travel: not only documenting the kind of food we eat while we are at a certain place, but also what we wore during our stay and all the sights that we managed to see.
It can also help in recommending all sorts of tourist destinations and can help boost different businesses.
The tourist destinations that took up the top five slots of the most Instagrammed tourist attractions are as follows:
Disneyland in California, which took the top spot; Walt Disney World Resort in Florida which came in second; Central Park in New York that took third; in fourth, the Eiffel Tower in Paris and finally, Universal Studios in Florida which placed fifth.
It seems that many people like posting pictures of the happiest place on Earth because it was reported that more than 12 million posts feature Disneyland; which is located in Anaheim, California.
The Sunday Times also goes into detail which parts of Disneyland are captured in most of the Instagram posts:
- The Cinderella Castle and other sights at the Californian park featured in 12,224,249 posts.
- Disney World Resort in Florida comes in second place, with 4,703,248 posts.
- Tokyo Disney Resort (10th) was mentioned in 1,519,337 posts.
- Disneyland Paris (18th) is the lowest ranking Disney attraction with 1,051,331 posts.
Yahoo New Zealand reports that based from a data obtained by City Base Apartments, these tourist destinations are also among the places in the world which are posted on Instagram:
Times Square, New York, USA
Big Ben, London, UK
London Eye, London, UK
Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA

We must not forget that while it is important to snap a photo of the place we are exploring, what matters the most is that we must have fun and enjoy the place as well as keep longlasting memories aside from photos which may fade over time.
