"That's So Raven" will have a spin-off on the Disney Channel, and Raven-Symoné is returning as Raven Baxter and to executive produce the new series.
The still untitled sequel will feature Raven as a divorced mom of a preteen son and daughter, one of which has inherited her ability to see glimpses of the future. The casting for the kids are still ongoing.
Deadline said that the pilot if being written/executive produced by longtime writing/producing partners Scott Thomas and Jed Elinoff (Disney Channel's "Best Friends Whenever).
Raven co-hosts in the ABC daytime talk show, "The View". However, she will be leaving the show in December to work with Disney Channel on producing the series.
"Raven's brilliant style of fearless comedy was a driving force for Disney Channel's success around the world," Disney Channel executive vice president Adam Bonnet said in a statement. "Her performance in That's So Raven is timeless. We now have our eyes on the future with her, and we're looking forward to telling more stories for a new generation with an adult Raven Baxter raising her young family."
E! Online reminds us that "That's So Raven" aired on the Disney Channel from 2003 to 2007 and followed Raven as she navigated being a teen with a magical ability to catch glimpses of the future. She used her ability to try and change the future, but often times she ended up causing disasters.
It can be remembered that Orlando Brown and Anneliese Van der Pol were Raven's best friends. On the other hand, T'Keyah Crystal Keymah and Rondell Sheridan played her parents. Kyle Massey portrayed Raven's brother, Cory, who later got his own spinoff, "Cory in the House", which ran from 2007 to 2008.
Meanwhile, Raven became the first African-American woman to have her name in a comedy series title. At age 19, she also was named producer on the series. With "That's So Raven", she received four NAACP Image Awards and two Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, among others. Furthermore, Raven toplined the ABC Family comedy series "State of Georgia."
