London Olympics Schedule: Musical Acts to Take the Stage [VIDEO]

People don't just love the Olympics for the sport. There is also a huge pop-culture and musical draw surrounding the London games with a number of events throughout the metropolis that just aren't related to swimming and gymnastics.

Before the games began BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend 2012, was an Olympic related event kicking off with the likes of Jay-Z and Rihanna. At the London 2012 Torch Relay on July 26, British performers Mark Ronson and Dizzee Rascal played showing their support to the U.K.

Opening day celebrations start Friday with the highly anticipated opening ceremony. Though not confirmed, there have been reports that beloved Beatle Paul McCartney may play at the show. At the BT London Live event, acts like Duran Duran, Paolo Nutini, Stereophonics and Snow Patrol will perform at the same time as the ceremony. Blur will close out the last day of BT London Live in a sold-out show.

The free event, BT London is set to transform a number of London's parks and public spaces including Hyde Park, Victoria Park and Trafalgar Square to celebrate the games. The venues will also play sporting events live on giant screens. July 27 to August 12 will be in Victoria Park, July 28 to August 11 in Hyde Park and August 29 to September 9 in Trafalgar Square.

At the closing day ceremony on August 12, reportedly a number of British celebrities and pop stars will play the stage including One Direction, the Who, Take That, Queen, the Spice Girls, Russell Brand and more.

When the Paralympics kick off on August 29 after the Olympics, Cold Play is set to play at the Closing ceremony on September 9.
