With the 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremonies Friday, July 27, it might be a little late to make a trip across the pond to London, but that doesn't mean you have to miss out on the Olympic action! Several hotels are offering Olympic themed activities right in the U.S.
Here are some hotels that are getting in the spirit of the Olympic Games
The Swan and Dolphin Hotel at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida
On the day of the Opening Ceremonies, July 27, this hotel will broadcast the show on big-screen televisions in the lobby while they serve "gold metal" cookies. Guests also have a chance to meet previous Olympic medal winners Wendy Bruce-Martin, Scott Johnson and Fred Tyler.
Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa in Fort Myers, Florida
This hotel will also be getting in on the Opening Ceremonies action on July 27. During their "Synchronized Screening" party, the hotel will have fish and chips and Olympic-themed cocktails, like the "Five-Ring Circus" and the "Gold Medal Lemon Drop," while they screen the ceremony. Meals are $18 for adults and $9 for kids under 12.
Loews Miami Beach Hotel in Miami, Florida
This hotel is providing fun Olympic activities for young guests between the ages of 4-12. There will be activities like archery, ping-pong, swimming and track and field. Winners get a medal-themed ice cream Sunday during July and August. Adults can kick back and relax while watching the Games poolside on a big outdoor screen. The hotel rates start at $229 per night, but the Olympic activities are complimentary,
Waldorf Astoria Park City in Utah
Being that the 2002 Olympic Games were held in Utah, the Waldorf Astoria Park City is offering private ice-skating lessons with a member of the U.S. National Speedskating Team who hopes to go to the winter Olympic. The package starts at $299 per night plus $120 for a two hour lesson and it is being offered until September 12, 2012.
Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Virginia
With this hotel's "Go for the Gold" deal, guests can get 20% off a hotel room. Of course this hotel is rooting for Team USA, so whenever the team wins a gold medal during the Games, registered guests who are staying at the hotel when the medal is won receive a $20 resort credit to be used towards gold, the spa, food or other purchases.
Affinia Hotels in New York City and Washington D.C.
This hotel group is encouraging its guests to get as fit as an Olympian with Yoga. Although it isn't an Olympic sport, guests who complete a tree, downward facing dog or head-to-knee pose upon check-in can win cupcakes, wine and up to $25 in hotel credits to use for in-room amenities.
