Window Washers Rescued from Vegas Hotel

At the 46 story Vdara Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, four window washers were rescued by firefighters Wednesday, after being stranded for several hours outside the hotel's 35th floor.

Firefighters spent three hours rigging ropes and climbing down from the roof top of the Vdara Hotel to harness and lower the hanging window washers one at a time to the ground.

Stacy Welling, the Clark County spokeswoman said that the firefighters were called when window washers noticed that the work platform was slipping.

The Vdara was built by MGM Resorts and Dubai world in 2009. The hotel spokeswoman Yvette Monet said to press that the window washer's platform had stalled due to mechanical malfunction.

Fire fighters brought the men bottled water to cool them off in the hot Vegas weather that was a reported 104 degrees at the time.

This isn't the first time that firefighters have had to be available for similar situations and Las Vegas fire spokesman, Tim Syzmanski said that the team trains for these types of situations.

In 2009 they rescued two window washers whose cable holding their platform snapped due to wind outside the Wynn Resorts. The men suffered minor injuries and were pulled through a 15th floor window to safety. The platform slammed against windows facing the stirp and broke glass all over the pool below.
