$99 can't get you much these days. A cute dress, dinner for two at a decent restaurant, maybe a cool pair of sneakers .... oh and a drive-by wedding. At the "wedding wagon" in Las Vegas, a legal officiant drives the couple to get married at the site of their choice, photos included for just $99.
In Las Vegas, 7,000 to 9,000 people get married every month, so naturally Andy Gonzales and James Cass, the entrepreneurs behind The Las Vegas Wedding Wagon decided to capitalize in on the quickie marriage trend in a unique way. The owners said they had the idea of starting this mobile wedding because of the "Hangover Heaven" bus that offers Vegas partygoers IV therapy to cure their hangovers.
"We were saying, 'Should we pull the trigger?' And then we saw that story about the Hangover Bus. When we saw that, we said 'Anything is possible'," Gonzales said to ABC News.
Both Gonzales and Cass have become ordained ministers and have officiated a number of weddings since its debut. What is required at the wagon is a marriage liscence beforehand and the wedding wagon can meet brides and grooms at the Las Vegas Marriage Bureau for convenience.
There Las Vegas Wedding Wagon has a number of preferred locations for people to get married such as next to the famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign and Bills-Caesars Bridge with views of Bellagio.
Their website states, "Our two most popular locations are the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign and our convenient downtown Las Vegas Marriage Bureau option that offers a wedding ceremony just minutes after you've received your license. If your trip to Las Vegas is centered around of the hotels on the Strip, our Minister also offer a "Soaring Sidewalk" Ceremony on one of seven pedestrian bridges spanning Las Vegas Boulevard."
