The 2012 Olympics begin this Friday with the highly anticipated opening ceremony, directed by Slumdog Millionare director, Danny Boyle and ends on August 12.
As London is five hours ahead of Eastern time, NBC will stream important events live on their website. The network repackages events for its prime-time audience and generally shows at 7 or 8 at night until midnight. The seventeen day sports extravaganza is full of a number of daunting events.

Friday July 27
Opening ceremony
The Opening Ceremony is obviously one to watch. The show titled, "Isles of Wonder," will attempt to capture the spirit of Great Britain with thousands of performers. Watch it on NBC from 7:30 p.m. to midnight.
Saturday July 28
Swimming, the men's 400 individual medley
Michael Phelps who broke records at the Beijing Olympics, will race this one in the 400 IM and 200 IM. Ryan Lochte is also one to watch as Phelps' biggest contender. This will be the first night of swimming competition and one that is highly anticipated.
Tuesday July 31
Women's gymnastics, team final
Always a fun one to watch, The U.S. will compete together today hoping for Olympic gold.
Sunday August 5
Track, men's 100-meter final
Jamaican Usain Bolt is one to watch, who dominated the sport in 2008.
Thursday August 9
Women's soccer final
The number one team, Japan will play in Wembley Stadium against teams like the U.S. which has won three golds and one silver in four Olympic women's soccer tournaments.
