A wandering bull was tranquilized on Tuesday afternoon and removed from Phu Bai Airport in Hue, Vietnam. The wandering bull forced the closure of the Vietnam airport and was captured after two days of roaming. The bull, who later died, is said to have possibly killed an elderly villager.
Local chief ranger Nguyen Viet Hoach said that twelve flights to Hue had been affected because of the bull. He also stated that an 85-year-old woman was found dead with facial wounds outside her home on Monday afternoon. Though it is not proven that the bull was the reason for her death, it was seen in the village and is suspected of butting her.
Monday morning, the bull was spotted in a wooded area near the airports runway and nearly 100 officials including police, soldiers and rangers were dispatched to the area to stop the bull from crossing the runway.
The bull died on Tuesday evening and Hoach ruled out the possibility that it had been from a tranquilizer overdose. An autopsy showed that the bull had stomach bleeding and heart problems and that it had suffered from dehydration and exhaustion.
The Airport director, Do Chi Thanh said it wasn't clear where the animal came from and that the airport was closed for most of Tuesday due to safety reasons.
Phu Bai Airport (HUI) is one of the main airports in central Vietnam, located 15 km from the historic city of Hue.
