The 34-year-old Playboy model, Katie May, was considered as the 'Queen of Snapchat' which garnered her more than two million followers on her official Instagram account.
However, she met an unfortunate turn of events in her life followed by her visit to her chiropractor. After a few days from the consulatation, her life ended someime in February.
Reports claim that Katie suffered an injury when she had a photo shoot in Los Angeles earlier this year. She was then taken to the hospital for neck pain but got released later on the same day.
In fact, the model posted this message to her Twitter: "Pinched a nerve in my neck on a Photoshoot and got adjusted this morning. It really hurts! Any home remedy suggestions loves? XOXO."
Her father, Joe May, said that the actions of the chiropractor contributed to his daughter's death.
According to ABC, the official cause of death, as stated by the coroner's office, was vertebral artery dissection, which is mainly the manipulation of the neck that tore an artery leading to the brain.
When someone experiences an injury like May's, it's due to a pre-existing condition that causes that person to be more vulnerable, a family medicine specialist Dr. Manuel Momjian said.
"I don't think it should bring down the chiropractic industry, but it should make us all step back and ask questions to our doctors," he added.
May's father further said that the model's seven-year-old daughter is now motherless because of what had happened. He also expresses that he does not want this to happen to anyone else.
"That's what we want. I would tell any guy or girl who goes to a doctor - and I've told them - don't touch my neck", he said.
Meanwhile, Daily Mail reports that a GoFundMe campaign was created at the time to raise funds for May's daughter.
The fundraising page has already garnered more than $36,000 in donations. "Katie's family plans on using any money raised to help pay for education, Mia's daily life and to help her dad with the costs of parenting."
