Demi Lovato Takes A Break In 2017 After Series Of Misunderstanding In The Media

Demi Lovato has allegedly decided to take a break from 'the spotlight' in 2017 amidst press attention surrounding her social media comments and quotes from a recent interview.

On her official Twitter account, the singer wrote, "So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight. I am not meant for this business and the media."

Demi's second tweet seems to give a hint to the reason of her decision - recent press and social media scrutiny.

Last weekend, Demi gained criticism from fans when she called out a fan artist for enlarging her breasts in a drawing depicting her as a mermaid. According to Yahoo!, the singer's comment stemmed from the inaccurate way her body was presented. However, a lot of fans think that she was being unfair and ungrateful to the artist or fan who drew it.

Also, Demi's Glamour cover was released featuring an interview where she blasted Taylor Swift for tearing down Katy Perry with her song, "Bad Blood". The fans of Taylor, Swifties, fired back at Demi over the comments. Demi contended that she was just answering questions she was asked and refused to back down.

Moreover, when a fan asked her why she is taking a break, Demi said that dealing with the media doesn't seem worth it anymore and she desires to do more charity work while she takes a step away from the limelight.

"@jblover12223 dunno. It doesn't feel worth it anymore. I'd rather do charity work tbh," Demi replied.

Meanwhile, before her 2017 hiatus, it appears that she is trying out a new look.

According to USA Today, the famously-dark haired singer debuted a radical new look on her Instagram early Monday morning with a caption that reads: "Goldie locks."

It's far different compared with her Glamour photo shoot just last week.

If her blonde hair is meant to be a disguise, Instagramming a picture of it isn't going to help her with the hiatus 2017 plan.
