Tom Cruise took his six-year-old daughter Suri on a mini-vacation July 19. The duo went to spend the day in East Hampton for a beach day. According to US Weekly Cruise and his daughter chartered a helicopter back to New York in the mid afternoon and later that night Holmes took Suri to her gymnastics class in New York's Chelsea Piers.
A source told US Weekly that Holmes, who is now renting an apartment in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood, will have primary custody of their daughter. Yet another source told US Weekly that Cruise is trying to stay as involved as possible in Suri's life. "He adores Suri, but now he's afraid he won't be able to have a close relationship with her," the source said to US Weekly.
When Holmes delivered divorce papers to Cruise it meant that he didn't get to spend time with Surin on his 50 birthday. Post divorce papers, Cruise was spotted with Suri on July 17. According to his lawyers Cruise hasn't seen his daughter until this week because of filming commitments.
Tom flew back to New York after shooting his latest movie Oblivion in California. According to TMZ, Cruise had no contact with Holmes when he made an appearance at her apartment to get Suri yesterday morning.
"He's going to try, despite all the attention, to have things be as normal as possible," a source told People magazine. The source also said that due to Cruise's hectic schedule it will be challenging but, he's going to have a meaningful relationship with her, as he always has."
