“Supergirl” Meets “Wonder Woman”, Updates About Lynda Carter’s Presidential Role

Marvel fans might think that there's an error or mismatch when they see the first photos from episode 3 of "Supergirl" which will air on October 24.

Ahead of the much-awaited series debut of Carter, The CW on Monday released the several first-look photos from her time on set.

The new photos show Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) shaking hands and getting friendly with President Olivia Marsdin, portrayed by Lynda Carter, star of the Wonder Woman TV series in the 1970s.

Carter will make her debut appearance in an episode titled "Welcome to Earth" which will show how Supergirl and the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO) are assigned to protect the President after she becomes the victim of an attack as alien vs. human rights issues heat up in National City. Moreover, according to Hollywood Reporter, the October 24 episode will show how Supergirl's sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), teams up with Detective Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) to investigate the case, Kara searches for a recently escaped Mon-El (Chris Wood), fearing he might be the alien behind the assault.

The popular "Wonder Woman" was one of the first TV series to feature a female superhero, and Carter revealed to Variety that she took inspiration from Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton for her own presidential part.

"I used Hillary to prepare ... I saw the way she can be warm and funny and inviting and serious," Carter said.

The new images from The CW drama show both President Marsdin's warm side as she shakes hand with Supergirl, and her serious side as she displays a look of fierce determination while striding side by side with DEO head Hank Henshaw (David Harewood).

The season 2 of "Supergirl" will make its debut on Monday at 8 p.m. The series migrated to The CW after a season on CBS.
