Carly Rae Jepsen Has a 'Good Time' In Favorite Travel Destination: Los Angeles

As a rising star, "Call Me Maybe" singer Carly Rae Jepsen is getting to do a lot of traveling. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Carly Rae Jepsen reveals one of her favorite travel detinations and some of her habits on the road.

Jepsen, the Canadian singer of the summer hit "Good Time" has done a bit of traveling on Justin Bieber's North American summer tour. In the Vanity Fair interview, she reveals that her favorite place to visit is Los Angeles, California. Her favorite parts of the star-studded city are the people and the sun. She enjoys the " many artistic people, and I just love the weather. Being a Canadian girl, my legs don't usually see that much sun!" Jepsen says. Jepsen even has a favorite hotel in the city. When she goes to Hollywood, she likes to stay at the The Sunset Marquis. "It's very, very relaxing. And they always seem to spoil me rotten," she told Vanity Fair.

For Jepsen, the ride to Los Angeles is an easy one as it's just a quick plane ride away from her hometown of Vancouver. However, Jepsen says that when she travels, she doesn't need a travel companion so she can find song writing inspiration in her lone time. "I like to travel by myself. Is that weird?, she asked"

Jepsen explained that travel time is when she gets most of her song writing done. Many of her songs are penned in hotels and on planes. "I'm a late-night hotel writer. Most of my songs happen that way," she says. She also likes to carry certain items such as a "Good book, music, and note pad-I often write lyrics on the plane" she continued. As she writes, the singer doesn't mind having "Hot tea or a glass of Pinot Noir, depending on my mood," says the 26-year-old Jepsen.

When staying at the Sunset Marquis, Jepsen is a big fan of their room service. "I go all out. I order whatever I'm craving. Late-night burgers are always a bad idea that you never fully learn your lesson from," Jepsen said about ordering room service at the hotel. "And for breakfast, their smoothies are a must," she continued. However, Jepsen also enjoys eating at local restaurants. "If I'm out with friends, we usually find our way to Kitchen 24 for a little after-party chat," she said.

Being in the spotlight, Jepsen knows the importance of staying in shape,so after indulging in filling room service meals Jepsen explained that she likes to swim to stay in shape on the go. "It's good for the body and it helps clear my head." However her workout routine changes when she's not on a vacation. "I like long- distance running. It's relaxing once you get into that rhythm where you forget your legs," said Jepsen.

Like many travelers, Jepsen has issues when it comes to packing a bag. She calls herself an "overpacker." However, no matter what she stuffs in her suitcase, there's an item that she must have on every trip. "I always bring my little leather skirt. It's by Moschino and I found it on my first trip to L.A. I barely ever wear it, but I like having it with me in case!" she said.

Although Los Angeles is an exciting city, one of Jepsen's favorite spots is the bed at the Sunset Marquis. "It's like sleeping on a cloud. She also likes to turn on the TV and watch sapply love stories. " I usually watch all the chick-iest of chick flicks when I'm away," she said.

In addition to enjoying some down time while on a break, Jepsen also likes to explore the city. She enjoys shopping there, although she doesn't have a favorite store just yet. "I just roam. I like to mix and match vintage with designer. It's how I create my own style," she said. The young singer also likes to have a good time at some of the local nightlife spots. "Last time I was in L.A., my girlfriends and I went dancing at this place called Smoke and Mirrors. That's the only spot I've tried, but it was fun."

Despite her love of travel and the city of Los Angeles, nothing beats home for Jepsen. "I like L.A., but I love Vancouver. After a while I even miss the cold weather in Canada. Who would have thought!?," she said as she finished the interview.

Jepsen was a third place finalist on Canadian Idol. Earlier this year, she was signed to Justin Bieber's record label School Boy Records and her song "Call Me Maybe" has been at the top of the Billboard charts for several weeks. Her latest single with Owl City, "Good Time" is sure to be the next big hit of the summer.
