Facebook Introduces Events App for iPhone; Android Version Soon

Facebook became a huge help for more than 100 million people every day in terms of discovering things they can do with their friends, may it be going to festivals, joining a race, participating to neighborhood fairs and enjoying nightlife. According to Newsroom, because of the hundreds of millions of events being shared on Facebook every year, people are more eager to not miss out on anything.

As a result, Facebook recently launched a mobile app for event seekers who are passionate about keeping up with nearby events and planning things to do with their friends. The Events app will surely help people in terms of looking for something to attend on a weekend and updating them on what's happening in their area.

The Events app for iPhones (not yet available in India) is available in Apple's App Store. Facebook product manager Aditya Koolwal said that the version for smartphones powered by Google-backed Android software is coming soon.

Events allows people share plans for concerts, poetry slams, plays, or other types events they are interested in attending.

"When you open Events, you can quickly catch up on new events your friends are interested in, recently-announced events by the Pages you like, and updates from events you're already connected to," Koolwal said.

Koolwal adds that more than 100 million people daily use Facebook's events section to discover activities they can take part in with friends.

Moreover, the application helps people browse for happenings based on location or interest, and to explore possible outing options with the aid of interactive maps.

According to Gadgets 360, plans created in Events are arranged on a calendar and shared back to Facebook friends.

California-based Facebook is currently building a family of mobile applications to help their users stay tuned into modern lifestyles in which smartphones are used to immediately connect and share with friends or colleagues.
