Your Uber rating is a subtle statement about your manner while inside someone else's car. If you have a five then you're doing it right. However, when your rating drops below three, and you're having a hard time looking for an Uber driver, something needs to change.
The following are the things you need to do in order to improve your Uber passenger-rating as told by Uber drivers.
Be Polite And Friendly
In an interview by Travel and Leisure to Doris Starling, an Uber driver working around Los Angeles area, she sites that the way a passenger addresses the driver or other people inside the car if it is an Uberpool, is the first thing she considers in giving out ratings. Asking over demanding is the key. "The quickest way for me to dock you and not give you five stars is because you're very, very rude," said Starling. She is also appreciative if a passenger says "Hi!" and asks her how she is doing as a sign of courtesy. It would not hurt also if you try to start a conversation with the driver about something that both interests you.
Be Clear With Directions
Business Insider in a similar study, lists that exact locations of pick-up and drop-off is what Uber drivers look for in their customers also. If you have a clear location of where you are, then the driver would not have a hard time finding you and by putting in the exact address of your destination in the app, the driver can navigate smoothly via GPS and saves him the awkward conversation with passengers that can't differentiate left from right.
Don't Run Errands
In the same Travel and Leisure interview, Doris Starling added that she don't like it when her passenger makes her stop for a while in a particular place just to run some errands that could usually take up longer. She finds it very inconvenient and would rate the passenger down hard, specially if it is an Uberpool.
Be Clean
Understandably, drivers don't like it when passengers are untidy and would mess up the car. Eating, spilling drinks, foot on the car seat are just one too many things that a driver would not be happy for you to do. In both Business Insider and Travel and Leisure reports, this particular value has been brought up as an area of concern which means that it is something that passengers should be mindful about.
At the end of the day, your Uber passenger rating is something like a report card of how well you interact with others in the community. Maintaining a perfect five star would not be an easy feat, but it should speak highly of your character as a person. Adding in the bonus of picking up Uber drivers easily.
