Make up fans were so excited that MAC Cosmetics finally released the Selena Quintanilla tribute line! After crowdsourcing efforts, the collection finally became reality. It was released earlier this week, and of course, fans flocked to their nearest stores to get their hands on the much-awaited line.
The Chicago Tribune reports about fans waiting in line for hours outside the MAC store. The earliest one in line, 30-year old Christina Alonso, camped outside for 12 hours. She had plans of buying the complete line consisting of lipsticks, foundations, eye shadows, mascara, blushes, eyeliners, and makeup brushes. Her estimated amount to be spent was $377.
She revealed that she is a huge Selena fan, and that this was simply a moment she couldn't miss.
A lot of Selena fans were definitely looking forward to this day. From the moment the cosmetics company revealed that they were already collaborating with Suzette Quintanilla, Selena's singer, fans were so hyped up about it.
There was an initial limited release last month at Corpus Christi, TX, but it was immediately sold out. This second wave is a major one with the line being sold in select stores all across the United States.
E! Online gave a review on the MAC Selena Collection. While the individual products fared okay, as a collection, it wasn't as cohesive as they hoped it would be. Color-wise, it just didn't feel like a collection. However, upon further review, they realized that they simply picked one color each per an iconic look.
The products that were named after Selena's song titles really did imbibe the spirit of her music. The "Dreaming Of You" lipstick, which was a bright shade of red, will definitely give you that signature Selena pout.
Overall, the MAC Selena Collection is a welcome addition to the cosmetic line's vast selection of high quality make up. As of late, the full collection is completely sold out. Fans are still waiting for updates regarding restock.
