Des Moines, Iowa-- It took seven years for the students and faculty of Drake University to fulfill what they have been wishing for. The social media campaign "Bring Drake to Drake" which started in 2009 has finally reached the end of a dark tunnel.
According to Travel and Leisure, the hype of the social media campaign increased this spring when the school administrators announced that De Moines is listed as a stop on Drake's "Summer Sixteen" tour.
The students got more excited upon hearing the news and tagged Drake in an Instagram meme post, telling the artist that they welcome him to their city but they will be more pleased if he will drop by their campus. Ten minutes after they post the meme, Drake posted a comment saying "I'mma pull up on ya."
This awakened everyone in the campus and they gathered in the central quad waiting for Drake to show up. Finally, the crowd lost their hope since no trace of Drizzy was spotted on the venue. But the whole campus still believed that #BringDrakeToDrake lives on.
Wishes do come true. Maybe not how you wanted something to be, but it will still come true. Drake somehow made it by sneaking into the campus and took a photo which was posted on his Instagram account. He was also spotted in his concert wearing a Drake University jersey and a varsity jacket on stage which he wore until he left the city on a private jet. Photos were also taken and posted on his Instagram account. One of the photos was even captioned "ALUMNI," according to Mashable.
Drake went to Chicago the following day still for his tour and will also be in Montreal, Toronto, Brooklyn, Philadelphia and Newark. His "Summer Sixteen" tour started on July 20 and will end on October 16. This tour is expected to have a revenue of $20,823,557.
