Obama and DiCaprio to Meet on Climate Change

On Monday, October 3, US President Barack Obama "calls all Americans to discover their own way to make a positive difference in our country" and "calls on creative thinkers and entrepreneurs from across the country to help tackle our toughest challenges."

The event in question is a climate conversation and film screening called the South by South Lawn Event, an event described by the White House as a "festival of ideas, art, and action". Earlier this year, President Obama attended a South by Southwest event where a conversation was held on civic engagement.

The Academy Award Winner, known for his roles in "The Revenant", "The Wolf of Wall Street", and "Titanic", is scheduled to make an appearance on Monday's South by South Lawn Event. DiCaprio will be attending in order to host the premiere of "Before the Flood", which will be screening live at the event. The film is a new documentary he is co-presenting with National Geographic focusing on the Earth's climate and issues relating to it. He is scheduled to hold an open discussion on the topic after the screening.

Other acclaimed climate change experts and activists are expected to join the event. One of the key speakers includes Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, a leading climate scientist, who is going to discuss the importance of protecting the planet for future generations. In addition to DiCaprio's and Hayhoe's scheduled events, the South by South Lawn Event will also feature the Lumineers who will be performing their music live.

According to the Daily Caller, the event will further the message of the climate documentary "Before the Flood", and serve as a wake-up call for Americans to "discover their own way to make a positive difference in our country."
