You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream, and as part of National Ice Cream Day, certain locations are giving away free ice cream.
National Ice Cream Day began by President Reagan. He declared the hot month of July as National Ice Cream Month. He also decided that every third Sunday in July would be National Ice Cream Day, which makes it July 15 this year.
In order to celebrate, several business are getting into the spirit of National Ice Cream Day and are even giving away the cool sweet treat for free. Here is a list of locations that have National Ice Cream Day Specials.
Carvel
The popular ice cream franchise, most known for it's soft-serve treats and fun cakes, are giving away free cones or cups of their soft-serve ice cream to kids 12 and under. Kiddies can choose whatever flavor they want.
Sonic Drive-In
This quick and fun drive-in restaurant is offering half price shakes after 8 p.m. The promotion isn't just for National Ice Cream day though. They're selling their tasty shakes at half-price all throughout the summer.
Ben & Jerry's
Ben & Jerry's is giving away free frozen yogurt on the road. As part of their 2012 truck tour, the Ben & Jerry's truck is traveling all around the country to give away free samples of their new Greek Frozen Yogurt. Right not and possibly today, the truck is making stops in Portland, Oregon and New York City, New York. Baskin Robbins
The popular ice cream chain isn't exactly giving out free ice cream, but they are giving fans a chance to win a gift card that could buy a lot of ice cream! To help celebrate National Ice Cream Day, Baskin-Robbins is holding a Twitter sweepstakes on Sunday, July 15, to give ice cream lovers a chance to win $260 in Baskin-Robbins gift cards, enough to keep the ice cream scoops flowing for a year. On that day, followers of @BaskinRobbins who Tweet their favorite Baskin-Robbins ice cream flavor using the special hashtag #BRflavors will be entered for the chance to win.
Mars Ice Cream and Six Flags
At Six Flags theme park locations, the first 200 guests to arrive early on July 15 get a Mars Ice Cream Rise and Scream Wristband which allows special VIP access to select rides before the park opens. Also, when guests purchase a Mars Ice Cream product from the Official Six Flags Ice Cream Day Location from 4-5 p.m., they can receive a free Midway Game Voucher to use at Six Flags on July 15.
This hotel chain is celebrating National Ice Cream day a few days late, but it's never too late for free ice cream. On Tuesday Jul 17, from 4-6 p.m., guests staying at one of their hotels can participate in a complimentary Ice Cream Social, where they'll be giving out free Haagen-Dazs ice cream. Adults can also get an extra special treat and try a free special cocktail sample. Some of their locations include Omni La Mansion del Rio (San Antonio), the Omni Parker House (Boston) and the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas (Dallas).
This Ohio ice cream shop is giving away free samples of their ice cream, not just today, but Monday- Friday between 1-3 p.m. throughout the whole month of July. They also have several fun ice cream related events going on.
