Now, staying connected during a get-away will be easier. The Four Seasons luxury hotel chain has installed iPads with self-service technology in rooms for guests to enjoy.
The technological tablets will be available in the chain's newest location in Toronto, Canada. That space is set to open on October 5. A combination of condominiums and hotel rooms, the building will have 55 stories, a 30,000-square-foot spa, and over 200 rooms.
As the intended flagship hotel will be in company with the Hotel Bel-Air in Beverly Hills, which features technology that was also made by the Orlando-based company that prepared the Four Seasons' iPads.
USA Today says that guests can use the iPads to do things like order room service, request housekeeping, adjust the room temperature, and schedule spa services. This is only a small sample of the 30+ services that the iPads can take care of. Guests with their own iPad tablets can download an app that allows them to take advantage of the hotel's functions on their own equipment.
Rather than just a flashy electronic accommodation the general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, Dimitrios Zarikos, says that the tablet is an essential part of the travel experience these days. "Some travelers would forget to pack a toothbrush before they left behind their smartphone," he says.
After a two-year-long revamp, the Hotel Bel-Air installed iPads with Intelity's technology in the Fall. Moreover, some hotels are putting their bedside Bibles on Kindles rather than keeping a paper version.
