Dracula's Castle in Romania
For the true vampire fans, this one is for you. Bran Castle in Romania is one of the spookiest castles in the world. Many people also call it "Dracula's Castle" as it is marketed as the home of Bram Stoker's Dracula. The castle has been featured in several Dracula films as it is on the border of Transylvania. Vlad the Impaler, one of the inspirations for Dracula also stayed at this castle. Today the castle is a museum for tourists to visit and learn the history of the castle, Dracula, and the Romanian Royal Family. The castle is also decorated with fine art, furniture and other ancient decorations.
The Stanley Hotel in Colorado
This hotel, located in Estes Park in Colorado offers terrific views of the Rocky Mountains, but that isn't the only reason this hotel is noteworthy. The Stanley Hotel was the inspiration for The Shining, a movie based on a novel by horror fiction writer Stephen King. The hotel itself is also haunted. Several guests who have stayed have reported paranormal activity such as lights turning on and off, clothes being moved, and hearing creepy sound such as the laughter of children and piano playing. Some have even claimed to see ghosts. For the brave souls, this creepy hotel may be a fun place to spend a night.
Bates Motel in Los Angeles
One of the most frightening movies ever made was Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 film Psycho. The famous shower murder scene of Marion at the Bates motel is iconic. There isn't an actual Bates Motel visit, but fans can see the set that was used for the films in one of the most popular stops on the Studio Tour at Universal Studios in Los Angeles.
