Private collectors will exhibit their rare vehicles to win the coveted "Best of Show" and "People's Choice" awards at the annual Barrington Concours d'Elegance, to be held at Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington (32 miles from Chicago) this weekend.
The vintage automobile show is on Sunday, the Barrington Concours d'Eleganceis opens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where the visitors can see and admire a collection of vintage beauties.
Vintage car lovers who have a passion for collecting cars will exhibit their collection including cars like1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona; a 1959 Porsche 356 Convertible D; a 1910 Metz Runabout; a 1961 Autobianchi Bianchina; a 1969 Jaguar E-Type ; and a 1959 Ford Thunderbird.
This year the theme will be Italian cars and motorcycles from all marquis and eras, complemented by American classics and a fine selection of vintage European automobiles and Japanese motorcycles.
Vintage sports cars like Lamborghinis and Ferraris, Audi A7, a Porsche Boxster, and an electric Fisker will participate in the American Classic Rides Car Club Court on the driving range at Makray.
The purpose of bringing the Concours to Barrington was not only to showcase the "Legends & Legacies" of the automotive world, but also to bring attention of the tourist towards the most unique and picturesque areas in the Midwest including rolling pastures, vast open prairies, and miles of equestrian trails.
The event begins on Saturday with a Fun-Run Family Road Rally that kicks off at Wickstrom Auto Group and features a 40-mile scavenger-hunt drive.
Parking is at the Barrington Train Station, with a free shuttle. Event-goers may vote for their favorite in the "People's Choice" balloting and find out the winner of "Best of Show" at the awards ceremony at 2 p.m. Afterwards, a private cocktail hour and gala benefiting Barrington Area Conservation Trust.
Tickets for the Saturday Fun-Run Road Rally are $75 in advance ($85 day of) per vehicle and general Admission tickets for the Sunday Concours are $20 per person in advance ($25 day of).
