If you haven't watched the latest trailer of Tom Clancy's "Ghost Recon Wildlands" yet, you should. It looks good.
Ubisoft develops its largest open-world tactical shooting game yet. Ubisoft game players are excited to see if the company delivers a good product.
The trailer is well done but according to Forbes' Erik Kain, it is just preparing gamer for an apparent graphics downgrade. He claims that since the pretty graphics are seen on the trailer, he expects a downgrade of graphics quality in the actual game release. Ubisoft, among other game developers, is guilty with this trend.
Just like any other graphic-heavy game, graphics downgrades are part of game development. Game developers have to sacrifice graphics to ensure fast performance of the actual game. According to Kain, this trend worked for the games "The Division" and "Watch Dogs", where the overall game still looked good in spite of poor graphics quality. "Dark Souls II" downgrade looks bad though, he adds.
Kain just hopes that the "Wildlands" game would be fun though, as he is a fan of the "Ghost Recon" series.
If the trailer is to be judged, the game's overall futuristic story setting is an intelligent move.
"Ghost Recon Wildlands" is a story about tactical shooters aptly named Ghosts who will try to save the Bolivian population. They have to infiltrate the cartel operation of Santa Blanca and cripple it. They have to target the ruthless leader of Santa Blanca, El Sueño. Before doing so, Ghosts have to face combats with the drug lords, fight the corrupted government. Players control the missions and strategy of Ghosts to ensure that Santa Blanca is saved.
E3 is set next month. Excited players can expect more trailers and featurettes to be released by Ubisoft. "Wildlands" is available for pre-orders. Prices start at USD$59.99. Pre-orders will have extra bonus missions.
